Frequently Asked Questions

How do I begin?

The initial consultation is a good time to explore how you feel about booking your first session. Oceans Psychology consistently champions our clients' autonomy & agency in their own lives & value transparent informed consent. We understand that it is impossible to know for sure if someone is the right therapist for you just by looking at a website. Human beings are much more in depth than that & the initial consultation is scheduled to ensure that booking a first session makes sense & will serve your greater good.

When booking your first session you will receive intake paperwork and a document on our practice policies via email after booking your first session with us. You’ll complete these forms prior to your first session, which is an intake session. An intake session is a time to get to know you, your history, what you are wanting out of therapy, create goals and a custom-tailored treatment plan for you.

Throughout the course of treatment, we will continue to assess your improvement to ensure you are receiving the right treatment and support. Every person is unique so this is not a one-size fits all approach; the treatment plan is designed specifically with you in mind.

What is the fee for a session?

The fee for a session with Elizabeth G’Sell, LMFT is $300 for individuals and $350 for couples, families and co-parenting. All appointments are for 50 minutes.

What are concierge support services?

The concierge support services package guarantees on-call therapeutic support with a response to text/calls within 3 hours during the time of 9am-6pm, availability for therapeutic support (session or check-in) within 24 hours of request, consultations with outside providers & case management services. Your plan will be designed to fit your needs and the fee is available by request based on each plan.

Do you take insurance?

Our practice follows a self-pay model, allowing us to serve a smaller caseload and focus on what’s most important to you. This means that you are responsible for the fee of the appointment & payment is made before each session. Depending on your plan, a percentage of the fee may be reimbursed to you by your insurance company. If you are not certain of the details of your plan, call your insurance company to learn more about your out-of-network benefits. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits and decide to request reimbursement, we will provide you with an invoice that you would need for this purpose.
